Summary of my visits to my baby

On 6 January 2007 (Saturday)

I had gone down to 32 Fulton Avenue and stayed outside the house from 1030am to 3.00pm, suffering a bad sunburn as a result of it but still failing to gain access Raphael. Apart from the Petitioner yelling at me at the gate from the main door, what I wanted to highlight to the Court is the way Raphael was obviously being brainwashed by the Petitioner as usual. Due to my refusal to be bullied into leaving the place without seeing or having access to Raphael, I decided to stay put and show Raphael I was prepared to fight for him and to show the child that despite all his father does to try to poison his mind, his mother loves him. I refused even to leave to get lunch for myself. In the end, my friend (also known to the Petitioner and Raphael) arrived with food for me but she also managed to speak to Raphael inside the house while the Petitioner spoke with me at the gate. Raphael on being asked questions, answered honestly and directly, although always acting warily and checking that the Petitioner was not listening or looking at him. My friend asked if he missed his mother, his grandmother and Raphael answered in the affirmative. When he was asked whether he wanted to go to grandmother's house, he again answered in the affirmative. But when asked why does he not want to follow me (mummy) and go to grandmother's house, Raphael looked at the Petitioner who was out at the gate with me and said "no". He gave the reason that I did not give him milk, to which my friend said he no longer drinks milk, so its not the reason. My friend then said that if she brought him back to grandmother's house he will have his milk (or food) and he answered in the affirmative again. But when told I would be coming along, Raphael looked worried and said "no" again. It is obvious that Raphael has been trained to reject only me and not others.

On 13 January 2007, I had again gone down to 32 Fulton Avenue and this time managed to get to go to the Macdonald at Ang Mo Kio with Raphael and the Petitioner. I noticed that when the Petitioner was away, Raphael happily talked to my mother on the handphone. But once the Petitioner returned, Raphael immediately and quickly returned the handphone to me.

On 20 January 2007, I had gone down to 32 Fulton Avenue and had stayed outside the place from 10.00am to 11.00am. Raphael who sat on a chair at the porch chatted with me at the gate. He said I could not enter the house because the Petitioner's mother ("ah ma") had said that I was prohibited from entering the house. I told Raphael that I love him. He said he loved me too. I blew flying kisses to him. Raphael he looked around first before doing the same with "shhhhh.." finger to the lips after the flying kiss action. I was heart-broken.

On 27 January 2007, I had gone down to 32 Fulton Avenue. It was pouring cats and dogs that day. Nevertheless, as I was prohibited from entering the house, I just sat down outside the gate in the rain with an umbrella and tried to shout to Raphael (who could not hear me very well over the sound of the pelting rain) who was sitting in the porch under shelter. Both the Petitioner and his mother never offered me any shelter. When the rain eased up, I handed Raphael 2 books to read. He was so interested. However, he kept looking back into the house to make sure that the Petitioner would not see that he was having a great time with the books. He tried to chat and speak with me but ended up whispering and kept showing me the "shhhhh..." hand sign to the lips. He also told me not to laugh in case someone heard me. I told Raphael again that I love him. He said he loved me too. I asked him if he is happy that mommy comes and sees him. He nodded with a pained smile, looking backwards to check that the Petitioner or somebody else was not watching him.

On 3 February 2007, I had gone down to 32 Fulton Avenue. When I arrived, the Petitioner was sleeping on the sofa and had not intention of allowing me time with Raphael. Raphael on the other hand, saw me and tiptoed out of the house, doing the "shhhh.." hand signal and sat on the porch thereof. Again I handed him books to read. One of the pages flew off and we both scuttled after it; it was fun. Later in the afternoon, the Petitioner tried to leave the house and Raphael yelled "goodbye" from the house. But the Petitioner in total disregard of my presence at the gate yelled back and asked if Raphael wanted to follow. He then made Raphale walk to the gate and asked him again sternly if he wa nted to follow him. The poor Raphael looked at me and then at the Petitioner and then reluctantly nodded. The Petitioner informed me that he would be back in 15 minutes time but, I was kept waiting for over an hour. When Raphael was a completely different boy when he returned with the Patitioner. He hid behind the Petitioner and avoided my touch or re-coiled when I tried to reach out to him. He kept saying "don't want, don't want" when I finally said I will be leaving and will see him next week. It truly hurts to see Raphael being treated this way and behaving this way.
